This isn't recommended over other formats, though we provide it by popular demand. On macOS, Barcode Producer offers the option of creating a PDF file with your barcode. It does this by creating a vector EPS of your barcode, then asking macOS to turn it into a PDF file. The result is simply vector data wrapped in a PDF file, so the PDF part is really just an extra step that is unnecessary (unless you plan to print your barcode directly from Barcode Producer's PDF, which is unlikely).
Instead of doing this, we suggest to simply save a vector EPS file and embed it in your document.
